Meet Dr. Bigsby

Gary W. Bigsby, DMD, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. He completed his residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bigsby proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Major.

Dr. Bigsby is a board certified pediatric dentist. This status was achieved through rigorous training and education in the field of pediatric dentistry; only 30% – 40 % of pediatric dentists are board certified. In addition he has submitted himself and his staff for testing and evaluation by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and was granted the designation of Diplomate by its governing board. Both of these accomplishments are indications of his commitment to providing the highest quality care to his patients and their families.

Throughout his long career, Dr. Bigsby has continued his professional education. He has had intensive training in orthodontic treatment for children and adolescents. He is a longstanding member of the American Orthodontic Society and has conducted lectures for its membership.

Dr. Bigsby’s professional expertise is valued throughout the medical community at large. He is a member of the Cleft Palate Team and the Blood Dyscrasia/Hemophilia team at UHS hospitals in Binghamton, New York, where he is a member of the dental staff and past department chairman. Head Start is a particular interest of Dr. Bigsby’s and he has served on its local health advisory committee for years. The dental hygiene students at Broome Community College have benefited from Dr. Bigsby’s experience in his role as a clinical instructor in its program.

Current professional affiliations include being a member and Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, membership in the New York State Dental Association, member of American Orthodontic Society, and member of Broome County Dental Society where he is chairman of children’s dental health.

Dr. Bigsby is a board member and past board president of the Danielle House which is a hospitality house that offers free and low cost temporary housing to persons in need of healing and help.

Growing up on a dairy farm near Syracuse New York fostered a love of animals and nature and rural life in Dr. Bigsby from a very young age. He began his life in a farmhouse that was built by his family over 200 years ago, so he has strong passion for American history. He is an avid skier, sailor, and hiker. He and his wife, Nadine, have enjoyed raising and educating their seven children in this area and frequently travel to spend time with their expanding brood of grandchildren.
